2025 Year in Review — Platform 2.0, ADHD flows, AI notetakers reducing burnout, and digital twins in mental health.

Welcome back to the Clinical Co-Pilot

Aisel - 2025 Year in Review

In 2025, Aisel has been building toward one clear goal: creating an AI-native system for psychiatry that delivers more time for clinicians and patients.

Seeing this vision come to life at the intersection of clinical practice and engineering has been the most rewarding part of the year - and we're grateful to have you following along on the journey.

This year, we launched Platform 2.0, a major upgrade designed to support end-to-end psychiatric workflows.

    Key highlights include:

    • A faster, more stable ambient scribe dedicated for psychiatry
    • A strengthened clinical documentation engine with flexible note templates
    • Our first disorder-specific-flow - ADHD, with more to come
    • Enhanced language support
    • A unified experience for patient activities and autonomous assessments

Throughout the year, we've seen a steady increase in curiosity and adoption. We've also had the opportunity to share our work far and wide through our monthly webinars and newsletter - reaching more than 1,000 psychiatrists who have attended or followed along.

As we move into 2026, we're excited to continue shaping - together - how an AI-native system dedicated to psychiatry can support the field.

    Thank you, and happy holidays,

    Team Aisel

    Industry News & Developments

Teenagers increasingly turn to AI for mental health support

A new study from England and Wales shows that around a quarter of 13–17-year-olds have turned to AI chatbots for mental health support due to long waiting times and limited access to services. Meaning more young people now turn to AI than to helplines or mental health websites.

Digital twins to personalise future health

What if you could test different lifestyle choices on a virtual version of yourself and pick the healthiest future? That is the promise of digital twins and the focus of the latest RSM Digital Health podcast with Prof. Peter Coveney and Roger Highfield, authors of Virtual You. Their work suggests that simulation and personalised prediction may become central pillars of future health planning.

    AI notetakers reduce doctor burnout

A recent Yale study found that ambient AI "notetakers" significantly reduced physician burnout and improved undivided attention during patient encounters. After 30 days of use, reported burnout dropped from about half of clinicians to roughly a third, with less after-hours documentation and greater ability to focus on the clinical relationship. Mental health services in the UK in 2025

The latest NHS Benchmarking survey tells us in conclusion, the numbers show it's a critical time for mental health services in all four UK nations. They're needed more than ever, and working under pressure with constrained resources and increasingly hostile media and political narratives.

    Aisel Perspective

Across these developments, a shared theme emerges: AI is filling gaps created by limited clinical capacity.

Rather than replacing professionals, AI tools should be designed to enhance access, reduce administrative burden, and support high-quality clinical decision-making.

At Aisel, we focus on strengthening psychiatric care by improving clinician efficiency and helping more patients receive timely, evidence-based support.

Optimising the Front Door of Mental Health Care

Digital mental health tools such as apps, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence (AI) hold great promise but continue to face barriers to widespread clinical adoption. The Society of Digital Psychiatry, in partnership with JMIR Mental Health, presents a 3-pronged road map to accelerate their safe, effective, and equitable implementation.

First, education: integrate digital psychiatry into core training and professional development through a global webinar series, annual symposium, newsletter, and an updated open-access curriculum addressing AI and the evolving digital navigator role.

Second, AI standards: develop transparent, actionable benchmarks and consensus guidance through initiatives like MindBench.ai to assess reasoning, safety, and representativeness across populations.

Third, digital navigators: expand structured, train-the-trainer programs that enhance digital literacy, engagement, and workflow integration across diverse care settings, including low- and middle-income countries.

Together, these pillars bridge research and practice, advancing digital psychiatry grounded in inclusivity, accountability, and measurable clinical impact.

    Aisel perspective

The roadmap highlights a shift from "experimental" digital mental health toward structured, clinically anchored solutions. Aisel contributes to this transition by integrating AI into established psychiatric workflows, focusing on clinical relevance, documentation quality, and real pre-session insights - supporting clinicians in their current workflows.

Thank you for following along this year!
